Welcome
The Virgin Islands community is remarkable in its diversity, in race, culture, age and gender. Planning an entertainment line-up to meet that diversity is no small feat. I am proud to say our 2011-2012 season features a line-up that offers something to meet the wide range of musical interests in the Virgin Islands. Our musical performers represent a wide range of genres including Zouk, African, R&B, jazz fusion, and neo-Soul.
A look at our Upcoming Performances page for this season lists some of the most noted entertainers in the music business: Caribbean powerhouse band Kassav, jazz favorites Spyro Gyra, Grammy winner India.Arie, old school vocalists The Commodores, and World music sensation Angelique Kidjo. Our Family show this year features the beloved animated mouse, Angelina Ballerina, in a musical that will delight the entire family. And, we are very privileged to have the first black classical ballet company in the U.S.—the Dance Theatre of Harlem—to round out this season.
We hope you will join with us as we celebrate the University of the Virgin Island’s 50th anniversary. On March 3rd, the UVI Alumni Choir will present a very special concert in tribute to past presidents of the University.
These wonderful performances will be complemented by concerts, lectures, dance recitals and other events presented by community organizations who rent our facility.
All in all, it amounts to a very full roster of diverse entertainment that adds to the artistic culture of the Virgin Islands community. We’ve planned it all with you in mind. Enjoy!
